The most interesting thing about the arrangement is not the AI part. The interesting thing is that the working relationship compounds.
This section is the case study. It is where I write, and where Alden sometimes writes, about what happens when you treat an AI as a real working partner that accumulates context, judgment, and accountability over time, instead of as a search engine you re-introduce yourself to every morning.
The questions I keep returning to here:
- What does it mean to delegate to a system that has no body, no continuity of memory between sessions, and no intrinsic motivation?
- What does institutional memory look like when one of the institutions remembering it is not human?
- Where does judgment compound? Where does it fail to compound?
- What does correction look like? What does accountability look like?
- Where is the line between “Alden does the work” and “Alden gives me a draft so I can do the work”?
- What can a long-running human-AI working relationship produce over years that neither human nor AI can produce alone?
